Surprise name makes Manchester United’s Europa League squad

Manchester United are in a good position right now. Admittedly, they made a disastrous start to the season and lost the first two games in poor fashion. But since then they have won four on the trot, including victories over Liverpool and the best Arsenal. Thus, it’s safe to say that the Red Devils look like the top four contenders again.

The important thing for them is to try to keep this form. We’ve seen flashes of brilliance over the years, but sooner or later the wheels fell off again. Let’s see if it will be a different story this time or not.

Although domestic competitions are important, Manchester United also have a Europa League campaign to go. And they recently announced the team for it with a surprise inclusion.

Manchester United have confirmed their Europa League squad on their official website and it includes Facundo Pellistri.

Surprise name included in Manchester United’s Europa League squad

Pellistri is a player who was signed by Manchester United when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was manager of Uruguayan club Penarol.

He never managed to make his mark at first-team level, however, spending most of his time on loan.

As a result, the fact that he wasn’t loaned out this summer and was in fact included in Manchester United’s Europa League squad is interesting. With plenty of games to play in the competition where the Red Devils would be expected to field second sides, it’s possible Pellistri will get some decent playing time.

Let’s see how things go. The Uruguayan winger has yet to show he can produce the goods for Manchester United, but he is only 20 and has plenty of time on his side.
